On Saturday May 12, the National Association of Letter Carriers will be collecting food during mail delivery for local Food Banks. This effort is coordinated by United Way and distributed to all Food Banks that participate in the program.
The Letter Carriers will begin arriving from their routes at the 5300 Scottsville Road Post Office around 2:30 p.m., the food is then sorted into different categories and United Way will divide the donations among all the participants. We will then bring our portion to FCC Food Pantry. This usually takes till around 6 p.m. All volunteers are asked to wear shoes, no flip flops or bare feet – accidents can happen and the Post Office has asked that all volunteers wear shoes. Please bring sunscreen, water and a chair as we will be outside, and remember it can be very hot or rainy. Facing the building, we will be on the right side of the building with parking available for our cars in front of the Post Office, or on the right side and back of the building.
If you can work with us that day for any amount of time, it will be greatly appreciated. We will need a couple of trucks to get all the canned goods and items back to the church. Look for the sign-up sheet on the board outside Carter Hall. Thanks for your help and if you have questions please contact Jeri Marsh at 270.783.8002.
