What will you give up or add during Lent?

What will you give up or add during Lent?

If you are like me, Lent ALWAYS sneaks up on you! I'm usually so busy burning palm leaves, preparing the sermon series, and thinking about Holy Week that I often forget to decide what I will give up or add during Lent.

So consider this our friendly reminder :)

Take just a few moments to consider, how might you draw closer to God during this season? Are there things that removing from your daily life might help? Or maybe something you could add? Do you need to increase the quality of time you spend with your family in order to really appreciate them? Or are you guilty of numbing your mind by constantly looking at a screen? It doesn't have to be drastic, maybe just adding a little extra time with family or friends or immersed in art. Maybe committing to one hour a day of "screen free" time.

This season is so wonderful because it invites us into a space of solitude. We can make a commitment as individuals to tweak our routines, but still immerse ourselves in community through weekly worship.

The season of Lent will begin on Ash Wednesday, Feb. 14. You’re invited to a service of ashes at 6 p.m. to kick off FCC’s new series Giving Up ...

The whole church will be challenged to give up more than chocolate this Lent. We’ll be asked to give up control, expectations, superiority, enemies, perfection, popularity and death as we pray, worship, and vision together.

Praying that you will experience the power of God in your life in this season.
