Pollution and Recycling Awareness Campaign
In July a group of youth and adults traveled to Christmount Christian Assembly in Black Mountain, NC to learn about food security, race and reconciliation, poverty, pollution and climate change. But this wasn't like most "mission trips." Before arriving at the – first ever – Social Opportunities for Intentional Living (SOIL) Conference we were asked to choose one of the above topics. Our group chose Pollution and developed a project to be implemented in our congregation and community. This Sunday our SOIL Team will kick off a Pollution and Recycling Awareness Campaign for FCC and Bowling Green. It is our hope that FCC will reaffirm its commitment to being a Green Chalice congregation by using less paper, recycling more, and by decreasing waste production. As part of this campaign we also hope to share what we've learned with the Bowling Green community by educating our neighbors about what can be recycled, how to compost, and other ways they can help the environment by making small changes in their personal lives. We hope to end our campaign on Sunday, April 22, Earth Day, with a Stomp Out Pollution Parking Lot Party! There will be games for the kids, educational resources and local food vendors!
Please join us this Sunday (Sept. 10) at 9 a.m. and 10:45 a.m. Buddy Morris and Kyle McDougall will be sharing the Good News about God's creation! The rest of the team will be leading worship as well!
